Job Description

Position Summary
Mid-State Technical College is currently hiring for an experienced continuous improvement instructor, knowledgeable in Lean Six Sigma.

This position will be hired for an ongoing project, however exact dates and times will be determined by customer availability.

This position will teach incumbent workforce how to reduce workload, eliminate waste, improve productivity in the long-term, and develop objective metrics to measure, standardize and improve organizational goals. Contracted courses are based on employer objectives and could be offered online and/or in-person. Course objectives may include: 
  • The Six Sigma Management System
  • Six Sigma and Lean
  • Process Improvement Teams and Tools
  • Six Sigma Teams, Methodology and Tools
  • Six Sigma Impact Measurement
  • Developing a Lean/Six Sigma Mindset
  • Continuous Improvement for Manufacturing, Healthcare, or any Industry

Duties & Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction of assigned courses using a variety of teaching methods to facilitate the learning of students.  Depending on program/discipline, courses may be taught in the classroom, lab/shop, outdoor locations, clinical sites, and/or online and may include day, evening, or weekend classes.

Responsible for the development, updating, revision, and maintenance of program/discipline curriculum and instructional materials.

Responsible for classroom management including maintaining accurate student attendance and grade reports as well as maintaining a clean, organized environment with an emphasis on safety.

Responsible for the assessment, documentation, and enhancement of student learning by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting attainment of learning outcomes; and related records maintenance.

Establish and maintain positive, professional, and collaborative relationships with internal and external partners including co-workers, employers, area high schools, and professional organizations.

Maintain professional/technical knowledge and skills including currency in assigned discipline, required occupational certification/licensing, and instructional technology/delivery methods.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualified individuals will have a minimum of five years of lean systems experience in the manufacturing or service related industry as a coach, trainer, and/or continuous improvement leader.  Specifically, experience should consist of training/coaching, leading and implementing projects in lean systems essentials, logistics and supply management and six sigma. 

Lean Systems professional designation/certification (e.g., SME Bronze, Silver, Gold and/or Six Sigma Black belt) required.

Prior teaching experience preferred, but not required.

Must be able to demonstrate good organizational skills, positive interpersonal skills, and excellent communication skills in educating adult learners.

Compensation & Benefits
Compensation is dependent upon experience and qualifications.
