Job: Teacher Aide - Big Cypress Reservation

****THIS POSITION IS LOCATED ON THE SEMINOLE TRIBE OF FLORIDA'S BIG CYPRESS RESERVATION****

The Big Cypress Reservation is located about 45 minutes west of Weston off I-75.

Assists teachers in coordinating academic support and/or activities for children. Assists in the coordination of workshops, field-trips or other group activities. As directed by teachers, may provide assistance to families with the interpretation of school policies and procedures.

>Takes attendance rolls and prepares absence reports.
>Types tests and other materials prepared by teachers; grades papers.
>Prepares classroom materials and outdoor equipment for group activities.
>Accompanies and supervises children on field trips and outdoor activities.
>Assists children passing from classroom to playground; accompanies individual children to the library, school clinic, or other areas as necessary.
>Leads group activities planned by the day care group instructors such as dancing, painting and singing.
>Works with children to prepare the class room for the day. Sorts materials such as color pencils, books and any other item used for classroom development. Works with children to pick up class room materials at the end of each session or day.
>Provides input for the group teachers in planning lesson plans.
>Makes copies of materials for classroom use.
>Discusses child adjustment problems with instructors and may assist in planning additional training for better development.
>Performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An Associate’s Degree preferred. Must have at least 60 credit hours at a college or university. One (1) year of experience in working with children or in an education program; or completion of a program of study in child guidance or child care from a vocational/technical school.
