Overview: Acquisition History

In February of 2008, Jobing.com acquired San Jose-based WorkMetro, Inc., which operates local employment websites in 22 major markets across the United States, including Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Nashville, Philadelphia, Tampa, Miami, St. Louis, and Raleigh/Durham. WorkMetro was founded in 2003 and venture funded by Bessemer Venture Partners (www.bvp.com) and JAFCO Ventures (www.jafco.com). Similar to Jobing.com, WorkMetro.com utilized leading-edge web technology, a locally focused business model and an aggressive local advertising presence to address the needs of local employers and job seekers.

LocalCareers.com was launched in October of 1998 under the domain "WiJobs.com" by longtime recruiting professional Brian Weis. Through the early acquisition of other career sites and a successful business model, the company evolved into a network of some 400 sites around the country, including notable employment domains such as WisconsinJobs.com, ArizonaJobs.com, CaliforniaJobs.com, NevadaJobs.com, TexasJobs.com and FloridaJobs.com. In addition, LocalCareers.com created niche employment sites such as Jobs4sales.com, Jobs4HR.com, and a number of other industry specific websites. Brian Weis also joined the Jobing.com family to become the General Manager of this new Wisconsin division.

Founded in 1996 in Houston by former HR professional Jerry Kowalchik and Ryan Murphy, Employocity grew a network of websites which included HoustonEmployment.com, PhoenixEmployment.com, DFWEmployment.com, ChicagoEmployment.com, LAEmployment.com, and many others. Their flagship property in Houston has been recognized as Houston’s top employment website.

Founded in 1995, ColoradoJobs.com and DenverJobs.com are a staple in the local marketplace thanks to the excellent work of their founder, Charlie Milliet. The company was well known and respected throughout Colorado and Mr. Milliet remains with Jobing.com as an Information Technology Manager.

The largest and most successful independent job board in California was founded by William O’Toole in 1999 and grew to success in Southern California and San Diego. With over 20 employees, the company served Southern California with a highly visited website and outstanding career events. Mr. O’Toole continues a strong relationship with Jobing.com and has been instrumental in technology related research and development projects for the company.

The California Online Job Network was founded in 1998 by Bill Kellaway as the premiere source for local jobs thoughout the State of California. Operating under the domains of CAJobs.com, LosAngelesJobs.com, OaklandJobs.com, RiversideJobs.com, SacramentoJobs.com, SanDiegoJobs.com, San FranciscoJobs.com, and SanJoseJobs.com, the service provides broad reaching access to California's largest metropolitan communities. Mr. Kellaway remains a close consultant to the Jobing.com team today.

Founded in 2003 by former recruiter Sylvia Miller, Rhinomite was the leading local job board in South Florida and also had operations in Rhode Island. Recognized for their outstanding service, Rhinomite was rapidly expanding and forming excellent partnerships with organization like NBC6 and Muvico. Sylvia remains with Jobing.com as General Manager of our South Florida operations in Ft. Lauderdale.

Colorado’s oldest job fair company, CCJE had operated in Denver for over 10 years and was widely recognized as the leading job fair promoter in the Denver area.

CareersColoardo.com was the leading locally focused job board operating in Denver and Colorado Springs. Founded in 1996 by recruiter Vicki Steere, the company operated both an online job board and local job fairs. Vicki remains with Jobing.com operating in the role of Senior Director of Community Relations for the Colorado market.
